Have you ever done, written, said, or sung something you look back on and CRINGE at? I love some records by artists who now say they HATE that recording. How is that possible you might ask? Well, I think I can understand that point of view.

TWENTY FIVE YEARS AGO I released my first “solo” album. (Also much singing done by Joy). The album was titled Songs and Second Thoughts and features tracks that eventually evolved into the first Friction Bailey album, Tengo Yellow Pedal.

This album features artwork by my brother Dave and was mastered by the ever talented Ben Eggehorn/Recording Services and even had some graphic design help from Jessica Dumoulin.

Part of getting older is also accepting and loving who I used to be.

I used to be an active Christian, and you can definitely hear that in many of these songs. And I can’t change that and wouldn’t change that. It’s a part of my life and I’m thankful for where it brought me today. And even though the songs aren’t great or even sung in tune all the time, they are a piece of my history and I’m grateful for them.

I’m trying to love all parts of my self, cringe-y or not.
